Free Cell Phones for the DisabledNovember 29th, 2011 | Posted by in Free Cell Phones For
It can be dramatically difficult for the disabled to find and maintain good jobs. They solely depend on the Supplemental Social Income (SSI) for their income. For people with disabilities, a cell phone is a must-have device so that they can call the emergency medical services if necessary. But with the economy going south day by day, price of every commodity and service is getting higher and since disabled people have limited income which comes from SSI, they have a hard time in meeting their daily expenses.
Luckily, the government has programs to help the people in these and similar situations. The government not only offers free cell phones but also free talk time for 250 minutes to qualifying customers for this program called Lifeline. The talk time can be increased by paying a small fee to increase minutes. 9-11 emergency services are, of course, always free.
In order to get a free cell phone with free airtime, you should contact the government-approved telecom company in your area in order to determine whether or not you qualify for the program. If you are a member of any government-assisted program, you must submit documents showing your validation as a member. After the verification process is complete, the company will send out your phone at the address you provided them during paperwork.
