The Lifeline free government cell phone program is available for use by qualified people who qualify for the Lifeline Assistance program. This particular federal assistance plan is offered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC.) There are millions of peple who are a part of this program and there are millions of others who are eligible to apply.

The Lifeline Free Government Cell Phone Program?

The government program known as Lifeline provides free government cell phones with free monthly minutes, data, and texting for those people receiving government assistance or with lower incomes.  Lifeline is providing a key service for those that normally wouldn’t have access to a cell phone.

A cell phone is crucial in emergency situations, staying connected with doctors, emergency services, family, and even potential employers.

Individuals that qualify for the Lifeline Assistance program typically are participants in other federally-sponsored programs such as: Food Stamps, Section 8, Medicaid, School Lunch Program, Home Energy Assistance Programs, and more (varies by state).

Households that have an income that is at or below their state’s Federal Poverty Guidelines are also eligible. Only one Lifeline account is allowed per household and individuals must have a valid U.S. mailing address. Each state has their own particular qualifying standards and individuals should review the criteria that their particular state requires. There are various companies that are approved to provide Lifeline service, namely Q Link Wireless, Safelink, and Assurance Wireless.
